The partners at Berenson represent a diverse array of professional backgrounds. Each brings his own deep experience and continuing relationships with the corporate and financial worlds.
Jeffrey L. Berenson
Over 35 years of experience in investment banking.
Headed Merrill Lynch’s Mergers and Acquisitions department and co-headed their Merchant Banking group.
In 1990, he co-founded Berenson Minella & Company, the predecessor firm to Berenson & Company.
Joined White Weld & Co. in 1972, moving to the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Merrill Lynch following their acquisition of White Weld in 1978.
Graduated Magna cum laude with a B.A. from Princeton University.
Mohammed M. Ansari
Over 17 years of experience in financial services and investment banking.
Formerly of Salomon Brothers, where he worked in merger and acquisition advisory for major U.S. and Canadian corporations in the New York and Toronto offices.
Holds a Master of Philosophy
Degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a B.S. in Economics and Business Finance from Brunel University, where he graduated with First Class Honors.
Robert H. Clymer
Over 30 years of experience in financial services and investment banking.
Former Managing Director and Head of the Diversified Financial Services group at Bank of America; former Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at Credit Suisse First Boston; former Managing Director in the financial institutions group at Salomon Brothers.
Holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
Head of Berenson’s Restructuring & Reorganization Group. Also serves as head of Berenson's Middle East and North Africa practice, and is a senior member of Berenson’s Capital Markets Group.
Notable assignments with Berenson include;
Graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois at Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Finance and Economics.
Robert M. McDowell
Former Commissioner and Senior Member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and recognized leader in the communications industry.
Currently serving as Partner of Cooley, providing strategic, legal, business, and public policy advice to clients in the
telecommunications, media, technology and digital media industries.
Nearly 25 years of experience in the TMT space, shaping countless large corporate transactions involving satellite, media, internet and wireless companies. Has led efforts on a multitude of complex global and domestic communications issues.
Graduated cum laude from Duke University and received his Juris Doctor degree from the College of William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law where he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers.
Gary D. Nusbaum
Over 20 years of investing and management experience in the private equity and asset management businesses. Served on the board of over 30 public and private companies.
Previously a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus where he was responsible for more than 20 investments totaling $3.5 billion, covering companies in the media, telecommunications, retail, healthcare, environmental, and logistics sectors. Worked in the New York and Hong Kong offices, and opened and ran the firm’s São Paulo office and Latin America practice.
Previously, Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Private Equity at Aetos Capital, a $5 billion asset management firm, and formerly Managing Director and member of the investment committee at Palladium Equity, a $1 billion private equity firm; responsible for the firm's investments in the media, consumer, and retail sectors, as well as its Latin America practice.
Holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree, summa cum laude, and Master of Business Administration degree, both from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
